Ubuntu preinstalled on Dell Computers?

Some people have been saying that they heard that Dell will be choosing Ubuntu as the default Linux distribution to be preinstalled on their PCs.

From the article:

Officially, Dell Inc. hasn’t said a word yet about which Linux it will be preloading on its desktops and laptops. Several sources within Dell, however, have told DesktopLinux.com that Dell’s desktop Linux pick is going to be Ubuntu.

Considering Michael Dell himself uses Ubuntu at home, it doesn’t sound so far-fetched.

Anyway, rumors aside, this would be great news for the Ubuntu project and Canonical’s paid support (which is the primary source of income for Ubuntu).

Update: Fabián Rodriguez confirms it, Dell will sell PCs with Ubuntu preinstalled. Congratulations!

Update2: It has been confirmed in many other places too.

Update3: And now we have the official Ubuntu and Dell announcements.
